When you watch the TV you can see some terrible pictures of people suffering in other countries.

Perhaps its war or disease but no matter what it is, they are suffering.

But how do you feel when yo see it on your TV screen.

Does it make you want to help or does it make you want to turn away?

“Its in another country so it doesn't hurt me.”

We can see famine and disease on our TV screens, the journalists go out to the forgotten countries and bring us back a picture of what life is like in these lands.

They want to stir us up with compassion for the people who are suffering.

But do we just turn channels on our TV and watch the latest cop show instead?

Its important to have compassion for others because one day the TV cameras may be coming to your city, one day it may be you who needs help, how would you feel if people shut off the TV when you were asking for help.

We need to put ourselves in other peoples shoes.

There are practical things that we can do to help people in need who are suffering.

Simple steps.

We can give to an aid agency that is helping the people.

We can share their stories on social media to make other people aware of the plight of the people.

We can pray for the people of the country that is suffering.

So our response doesn't always have to be about giving money, If we have nothing we can't give ourselves but we can do something.

Make sure your heart is full of compassion because one day it could be you.
