 – The British Consul General, Philip Hall, welcomed today’s announcement by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, that a first indicative allocation of 240,000 doses of the Oxford / AstraZeneca and 37,440 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines has been made to the OPTs.

Consul General said:

Coronavirus is a terrible disease which does not respect borders. No one is safe until we are all safe.

The United Kingdom has pledged £1.3 billion of UK aid to end the coronavirus pandemic as quickly as possible, and has provided protective and other equipment and training in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

The UK has been working with all its international partners, including the World Health Organisation, to deliver a strong global response to the pandemic.

The UK has pledged £548m to the Advance Market Commitment of the COVAX Facility of Gavi to help provide 1 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses in 2021.

I am delighted that Gavi has now announced that a first indicative allocation of 240,000 doses of the Oxford / AstraZeneca and 37,440 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines has been made to the OPTs. The allocations are not yet final, but this is good news which allows everyone to start planning for receipt of the vaccine.”
