The two Mary’s were going to Jesus tomb to anoint his body,
They must have felt so sad, walking to the tomb on that Sunday morning.
They must have felt such grief in their heart that Jesus had died, not only that, but he had died in such a painful and agonizing way.
But as they walked, they realized they had a dilemma,
Who would roll away the stone?
Joseph of Arimathea had had a stone placed over the entrance of the tomb.
They weren’t strong enough to move a mighty stone.
But the answer was coming and they felt it.
A big earthquake shook the ground beneath their feet and an angel came and rolled the stone away.
The angel told them that Jesus had risen from the dead and told them to tell the disciples.
Wow, a mighty message indeed.
Jesus was risen from the dead.
It wasn’t just a message from the angel, they actually met Jesus as they were leaving. They were witnesses to the fact that Jesus wasn’t dead.
He is alive, Jesus is alive.
They started out that day with a dilemma, they ended up with a message on their heart.
Jesus is alive!
